Today, I have something really exciting to share with you. Something big that we have been working on in the background for the last year. Even more exciting is that we are sharing this with you first. For the record, I am not a good secret keeper, so the fact that I made it this long is a miracle✨

Big Changes Coming To Healing Recovery Centre: But First, The Journey

In June, it will be five years since Healing Recovery Centre opened its doors.

Fun fact: We opened Healing Recovery Centre to help one family. A family that was going to fall through the cracks, a family that had been through more than any family should ever have to go through. Our thought was, we will do this for them because it’s the right thing to do. Of course, we had dreams of what Healing Recovery Centre could be, but being able to help just this one family was enough. As we got started, so did our dreams; we dreamed of how we could change the system, provide the care that we knew worked, and, most of all, put love at the centre. I never imagined that five years later, Healing Recovery Centre would have become what it is today. To be honest, I am in tears just thinking about it.

Six months into opening Healing Recovery Centre, then an online-only business due to the pandemic, we knew our community needed and deserved more. So the search for a space began. We spent months looking at different places, but everything had a cold medical feel to it, definitely not the vibe. So, after months of no luck, my husband and I decided to sell our home and find a place that could hold our little lives and be a space for this community. After several more months of looking, we found the space we are in today. A space that has been infused with love and healing, a space where so many of you have come on your hardest days, shared some of your deepest laughs, and explored your inner worlds with one or many of our trusted clinicians and practitioners. A space that brings tears to my eyes almost every time I am in it and every time I see people so relaxed and making it their own.

Over the last year, we have been looking for a new home for Healing Recovery Centre, a space that can hold what HRC has become over the years without compromising the warm, cozy and loving vibes our space provides. Let me tell you, it has been a journey and a lot harder than I ever expected it to be. The saying is: All good things take time, and while this journey absolutely took its sweet time, every lesson and bump along the way makes what I get to share with you today SO WORTH IT.

So What’s Next?

On February 27th, we got the news that our offer had been accepted for a commercial unit that fit the bill for what we are looking for. Before I even saw it in person, I said to myself, “This is the place”. But to be sure, I brought the most straight up and honest people I know, Katie Koruna and my mom, Juanita, to see if it would get their stamp of approval and of course it did!

We will be starting construction on the unit in April – May and hope to be fully transitioned to our new spot come June. We cannot wait to share it with you! So many exciting things are coming, and I promise to keep you updated. Our new location will be at the intersection of Gorham Street and Leslie Street in Newmarket, just 12 minutes from our current location, and will include a total of 8 treatment rooms and a large group space for all things wellness and community.
