For individuals who have not found adequate RELIEF through traditional treatment approaches.
York Region Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Program at Healing Recovery Centre offers a clinical and deeply grounded approach to providing legal access to psychedelic medicine. Our program is designed for adults who have previously engaged in therapy and medication management without achieving the level of progress they were hoping for. All participants undergo an assessment to determine suitability prior to beginning treatment.
How you can work with us
Our psychedelic therapy program is deeply rooted in a commitment to reducing human suffering. We approach this medicine with humility, respect, and integrity, so you can access the depth of healing that may be available to you.
We recognize this is one step in a larger journey. Our role is to hold space, and to make sure you feel equipped to navigate it with confidence.
There are four pathways for individuals looking to access
psychedelic-assisted therapy and support.
Through Health Canada’s Special Access Program, we provide legal access to psilocybin-assisted therapy for individuals experiencing treatment-resistant depression, OCD, eating disorders, end-of-life anxiety, and cancer-related distress.
- Psilocybin-assisted therapy may help soften rigid patterns of thinking, feeling, and self-protection, creating space for new perspectives, emotional flexibility, and a deeper sense of meaning.
- Support a shift from feeling stuck inside the mind to reconnecting with life, love, acceptance, and what matters most.

Through Health Canada’s Special Access Program, we provide legal access to MDMA-assisted therapy for individuals navigating complex or chronic PTSD.
- Helps people with trauma feel safe enough to gently revisit painful memories without becoming overwhelmed, shut down, or flooded.
- Can support deeper self-compassion, trust, emotional openness, and connection, helping trauma move from something the body keeps reliving into something the person can begin to process, integrate, and carry differently.

Ketamine is already legal and offers a faster-acting, more structured therapeutic experience. Coming soon to York Region Psychedelics for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and eating disorders.
- Can offer rapid relief for people feeling trapped in depression, suicidality, OCD, or trauma loops by creating distance from painful thoughts and opening a window of possibility.
- It can help the nervous system experience a pause from suffering, allowing people to access hope, perspective, and new pathways for healing when nothing else has felt like enough.
- Creates an openness to new perspectives and emotional processing

For individuals accessing psychedelic experiences outside of our program—whether at a retreat, ceremony, or in a non-clinical setting—we offer standalone preparation and integration support.

For Retreat Centres
Already offering psychedelic-assisted retreat experiences? We partner with retreat centres to provide clinical preparation and integration support for your participants, so the therapeutic value of your program extends well beyond the retreat itself. If you’re interested in collaborating, we’d love to hear from you.
What sets our PSYCHEDELIC Assisted Therapy Program apart
There is a significant difference between accessing psychedelic medicine and accessing a psychedelic-assisted therapy program. At York Region Psychedelics, we provide the latter.
Our program is built around the understanding that the depth and safety of a psychedelic experience is directly influenced by what comes before and after it. Comprehensive preparation, an intentional dosing session grounded in the psychedelic unfolding process, and integration therapy within 24 to 48 hours—each phase is as important as the next, and each one is supported by a dedicated clinical team.
Sessions are private, collaborative and held with both clinical rigour and intentional ceremonial care. They are non-religious and shaped entirely around your own culture, beliefs, and meaning-making.
Trauma-informed, individually tailored, and designed to build lasting change rather than a single powerful experience.

Morgan Weatherup M.S.W., R.S.W.
Founder, Clinical Director, Therapist, Clinical Supervisor
My name is Morgan Weatherup, and I am a registered Clinical Social Worker, therapist, and founder of Healing Recovery Centre.
I specialize in supporting individuals, families, and caregivers navigating eating disorders, trauma, emotion regulation, and disconnection from themselves, using an emotion-focused, relational, parts-based, and somatic approach. My work also extends into integration coaching, breathwork, and psychedelic-assisted therapy.
My work is grounded in creating a space where people feel understood, supported, and safe enough to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. Many of the people I work with have tried other forms of therapy or support and are still feeling stuck. Together, we move beyond just talking and into experiential, emotional, and body-based work that supports real, lasting change.
In my work with non-ordinary states of consciousness and psychedelic-assisted therapy, I support individuals at all stages of their healing process. I provide preparation, integration, and ongoing therapeutic support for those accessing psychedelics through regulated pathways, as well as for individuals engaging with these experiences outside of a clinical setting who are looking for grounded, trauma-informed support.
I also work closely with parents and caregivers supporting loved ones through mental health challenges, including eating disorders, helping them feel more confident, connected, and supported in the role they play in their loved one’s healing.
As a therapist, I draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), parts work, somatic and breathwork-based practices, and psychedelic-assisted therapy approaches. My work is rooted in the belief that emotions are not the problem — they are the pathway — and that healing requires more than insight alone.
Alongside my clinical work, I am the founder and owner of Healing Recovery Centre, where I lead a team of practitioners committed to providing integrative, high-quality care grounded in depth, integrity, and the belief that people deserve more than one way to heal. I also provide clinical supervision, consultation, and training to other professionals.
I have spent the last several years deeply engaged in my own emotional process, and I hold a strong commitment to continuing that work so I can show up fully and authentically for the people I support.
Outside of my work as a therapist and business owner, I love spending time with my family, dancing like no one is watching, snuggling with my dogs, and finding reminders in nature that healing, growth, and change are possible — and beautiful in every stage.
If you’d like to connect, please book a discovery call to see if we are a good fit.

Katie Koruna, MA, RP
Registered Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor
I’m Katie Koruna, fellow human and learner, Mom to 3 boys and Registered Psychotherapist. I aim to bring an open-hearted, client-centred, eclectic approach to the therapy work I do. I show up as me and I am so grateful you are choosing to do the same!
I support individuals across the lifespan and from all walks of life. At the core of my work is a humanistic belief: that you are inherently capable of growth, healing, and resilience. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Trauma-Focused CBT to support this work. My role is to help you feel less alone and more supported as you navigate life’s complexities. Even more important than therapeutic modalities is your inner healing intelligence and I truly believe in your innate healing potential. (A real fancy way of saying…you have all you need inside you and I absolutely believe that).
I provide clinical supervision to new and developing therapists as well as students during practicum. I am passionate about supporting fellow colleagues who are looking to build skill, work through clinical cases or process personal blocks that may come up when supporting clients. I meet the CRPO’s requirements to provide clinical supervision.
A meaningful part of my practice includes supporting individuals using psychedelic-assisted
psychotherapy. I deeply believe in the healing potential of these medicines and treat this work with the utmost safety, integrity, and reverence. I’ve completed specialized training with Therapsil to help eligible clients gain legal access to psilocybin or MDMA through Health Canada’s Special Access Program. Other components of my practice include facilitating Critical Incident Debriefings for groups following acute incidents and Anxiety focused support groups for children. In every context, I strive to create a safe, affirming space for healing to unfold.
Beyond my clinical work I’m a mother, a partner, a nature lover and someone who has had to find her way through hardship too. I know the courage it takes to reach out. I too have wanted to avoid these healing spaces and therefore deeply understand the bravery it takes to show up here.
I’m also committed to giving back to my local community here in Newmarket and spend time
volunteering with community meal programs. When I’m not in the therapy room you’ll likely find me camping, cycling, reading, or spending quality time with the people I love.

Nikki Koruna
Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Nurse
My name is Nikki and I am a mother of three, a Registered Nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant working with babies and families alike. Although within my designation my priority is to provide care for the baby, I believe support of the family and caregivers is equally as important to fully understand and contribute to healing. I want to empower us all to be partners to naturally promote health and wellness. My top priority is supporting my patients within their boundaries by developing a relationship which fosters an open dialogue, trust and empowers each individual throughout their mental health journey.
Working within the hospital environment I have a very intimate understanding of the medical system and the limitations in supporting patients through non traditional treatments. Alongside my experience within the hospital, I have experienced traumatic loss at a very important time of my life. Experiencing loss and looking back at the emotional support I had available encourages me to educate my patients and raise awareness about the unfamiliar treatment methods that are offered. These life experiences molded my passion and taught me how important it is to guide others to seek relief from the pain they have experienced and to support others while maintaining safety, care and dignity in what can be fragile times.
By being an active member in your treatment care team I want my patients to know they are never alone. I’m excited to embark on each and everyone’s unique journeys and be a part of a revolutionary movement in medicine reinventing how we think about mental health.
Jagpaul Deol
Psychedelic Pharmacist
Jagpaul Deol is a psychedelic pharmacist whose work is rooted in harm reduction, medication safety, stigma reduction, and compassionate whole-person care. As part of our psychedelic-assisted therapy team, Jagpaul provides specialized drug interaction guidance, medication consultation, and clinical support to help clients and care teams explore psychedelic medicine with greater safety, clarity, and optimization.
Her work in psychedelic medicine has included consultation and advocacy related to ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA-assisted therapy, including supporting clinicians and organizations navigating legal access pathways, psychiatric medications, and individualized risk-benefit considerations. She brings deep experience in mental health, addictions, HIV care, community pharmacy, research, education, and psychedelic policy.
Jagpaul approaches this work with cultural humility, clinical depth, and deep respect for the medicines, the people who seek them, and the lineages they come from. She helps create informed, non-judgmental spaces where clients can speak openly about medications, substances, safety, and healing — ensuring psychedelic therapy is approached with integrity, care, and reverence.
Roybn Winterbottom
Medical Director & PsychiatristÂ
Dr. Robyn Winterbottom completed medical school at McMaster University and her psychiatry residency training at the University of Toronto. She has broad experience treating PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia, and other complex mental health conditions, and is experienced in working with neurodivergent individuals.
Dr. Winterbottom believes that meaningful recovery happens not in isolation, but through connection. She values a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to care that integrates evidence-based psychiatry with a holistic understanding of mental health. Her approach recognizes that mental health is shaped not only by the biological aspects of illness, but also by psychological, social, and relational factors, including our past experiences, the health of our nervous system, our relationships, and our connection to nature.
“I believe there are many paths to healing. My role is to meet people where they are with curiosity, compassion, and respect, while helping them discover the approaches that best support their unique journey. Healing unfolds over time, often taking unexpected turns. Even when the path isn’t straightforward, meaningful change is always possible.”
Dr. Winterbottom has extensive experience in psychotherapy, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and a special interest in mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and somatic approaches to healing. As both a mother and a longtime yogi, she brings a grounded, human perspective to her work, believing that lasting wellbeing grows through self-understanding, self-compassion, and meaningful connection.

Frequently asked questions
What is psychedelic-assisted therapy?
Psychedelic-assisted therapy combines regulated psychedelic medicines with professional therapeutic support before, during, and after the experience. At Healing Recovery Centre, all psychedelic-assisted therapy is offered through legal avenues under Health Canada’s Special Access Program.
Who qualifies for psychedelic-assisted therapy?
Qualification is determined through Health Canada’s Special Access Program and requires a supporting physician. We work with individuals navigating treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety, OCD, and eating disorders who have not found adequate relief through traditional approaches. A free consultation is the first step to understanding whether this is the right path for you.
How is psychedelic-assisted therapy different from recreational use?
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is a structured, clinically supported process — not a recreational experience. It involves thorough preparation, a supported medicine session, and integration therapy to help you make meaning of and apply the insights from the experience. Set, setting, and professional support are central to both safety and outcomes.
Is psychedelic-assisted therapy legal in Canada?
Yes — psilocybin and MDMA are currently accessible in Canada through Health Canada’s Special Access Program for individuals with serious or life-threatening conditions. Ketamine is a regulated medicine that can be prescribed by a licensed physician. At Healing Recovery Centre, we only work with clients through these legal pathways.
How much does psychedelic-assisted therapy cost?
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is a multi-session process involving preparation, the medicine sessions itself, and integration support. Because of the depth and time involved, it represents a significant investment. We are transparent about costs during your consultation so you can make an informed decision about whether it’s the right fit for you right now.
Unsure if you qualify?
The best way to find out is to book a clinical assessment. It’s a one-on-one conversation with someone from our team to explore your history, your goals, and whether our psychedelic-assisted therapy program is the right fit for you. Think of it as a chance to ask your questions and figure out if this path makes sense for you.
