Take Your Healing Journey DEEPER

Explore evidence-based psychedelic therapy in a safe and supportive environment.

If you’ve been on a healing journey for a while, you’ve likely tried a variety of traditional therapies.

While these approaches may have helped uncover key insights into your emotions, behaviours, and past experiences, you may feel like you’ve reached a glass ceiling in your progress. If this is the case, you’re not alone.

Healing Recovery Centre was built on the belief that you deserve more than one way to heal. This is why we offer several alternative pathways to self-reflection, self-discovery, and transformation, which now includes our legal Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Program. Curious about whether psychedelic therapy is right for you?

Psychedelic Therapy for Your Mental Health and Wellness

In accordance with Health Canada’s Special Access Program (SAP) and the support of TheraPsil, our York Region Psychedelics program offers a legal avenue to access clinical Psilocybin and MDMA treatment in support of your deepest healing.

Research shows that when introduced in a safe and supportive environment, these medicines have the potential to effectively treat individuals experiencing trauma, PTSD, treatment-resistant depression, end-of-life distress, OCD, Eating Disorders, and other mental health concerns.

Through our York Region Psychedelics program at Healing Recovery Centre, we provide our clients with safe, loving, and trauma-informed therapeutic experiences to explore their innermost landscapes while being deeply supported by a team of highly skilled, specialized clinicians.

Accessing Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Services safely is not only a promise, it’s a value of ours. This is why our team consists of various interdisciplinary professionals, including highly trained therapists, nurses, Psychiatrists, pharmacy consultants, and spiritual practitioners. Our team specializes in bringing together the explained and unexplained to support all that can be explored in expanded states of consciousness.

Receive IN-DEPTH SUPPORT through Each Stage of Your Experience

Allow our skilled and specialized support team to guide you every step of the way.

Evidence from the phase two and three trials of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy demonstrates profound potential for change. Our program is informed by the protocols outlined by MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) to allow for optimized and safe participant experiences. This approach is emotion-based, trauma-informed, parts-focused, influenced by somatic practices and incorporates harm reduction principles.

The research for psychedelic-assisted therapy for both MDMA and Psilocybin demonstrates promising results and has the potential to revolutionize the mental health system. In the recently published phase three trials for MDMA and PTSD, participants with moderate to severe PTSD demonstrated that 88% of participants benefited from the treatment, with 67% no longer meeting the criteria for PTSD post-treatment. Many leaders in the field of trauma, including Bessel Van Der Kolk have stated firmly that MDMA-Assisted Therapy is the most successful treatment we have ever seen in the field of Trauma and PTSD.

Research for Psilocybin shows similar promising results, demonstrating greater effects than traditional anti-depressant medication. Psilocybin has demonstrated promising results in the areas of Eating Disorders, OCD, End of Life Distress, Cancer Related Anxiety and Treatment Resistant Depression. Research for Psilocybin demonstrates effectiveness in as little as one treatment round (one dosing session), with multiple dosing sessions required depending on the severity of symptoms.

Preparation

Positioning the logs for the fire.

The process starts with completing an intake form and a discovery call to determine your potential eligibility for this treatment stream. When accessing Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy through Health Canada Approval, all participants require a doctor or nurse practitioner (NP) to support their application as the “prescriber.” If you do not have a prescriber within your current health team who can support your application, we will connect you with one of our prescribers who can.

Once eligibility is assessed, we engage in a comprehensive preparation process. For a minimum of four sessions, you and your psychedelic-assisted therapist will complete the SAP application, set intentions, discuss relevant history, explore tools to help you navigate psychedelic experiences, and build a trusting relationship to lay a solid foundation for your journey.

In this stage, you will pause traditional therapy and focus on preparing your mind, body and nervous system for the dosing session(s).  Together, we’ll create a safe and supportive container that invites you to approach this experience with clarity and confidence.

Experience (Dose Day)

The spark that starts the fire.

During your Psilocybin or MDMA-assisted therapy session —”the dose” — you will be supported by two psychedelic-assisted therapy guides (one of whom will be your therapist from your preparation sessions). Your guides will be right by your side while you navigate your inner world, including any emotions, thoughts, and sensations that may arise.

This treatment is called “psychedelic-assisted therapy” because the dose session and the integration process after can feel like therapy with all the doors of your mind and body open.

Throughout your journey, you will be supported with love and compassion while being offered and guided with skills and tools to deepen your experience. This level of personalized support allows you to fully immerse yourself in the process and experience deep healing for body, heart, mind and soul.

You will never be alone during your experience. Your guides will stay with you throughout the entire session (approximately 5 – 8 hours) to ensure you are safe, thoroughly cared for, and have access to love and support at all times.  Many describe this experience as the care they never realized they needed.

Integration

Maintaining the warmth from the fire.

Integration is best known as the meaning-making process, where insights from your session can be woven into your everyday life in ways that support the experiential and neurochemical changes that take place during the dosing session.

Post-medicine, our brains experience increased flexibility for a minimum of 30 days. This means when we return to our lives and face challenging things, whether challenging an OCD ritual, exposing ourselves to something anxiety-provoking, or experiencing a difficult thought about the past, our brains have an increased capacity to move through these challenges. This is where the skills and tools you have learned in previous therapeutic work may start to click, and things can begin to feel easier.

In this stage, it is normal for traditional therapy to restart to deepen and nurture this enhanced connection to ourselves and our inner world that has been opened up by the medicine experience. This is how we protect the new neuropathways that are built as a result of the dosing session to expand the healing.

Our integration process is a minimum of three sessions within a short time frame of your dosing experience. It includes various options to personalize your process.
